The Peer Review Committee is a mechanism frequently used to resolve complaints between patients and dentists.
As a patient, you can contact the Peer Review representative and for the county in which your dentist practices to file a complaint. Once your complaint is received, it is reviewed to determine if the peer review process is appropriate for your complaint. Records are then requested from the dentist and the complaint is assigned to a mediator to attempt resolution of the problem. The mediator will contact both you and the dentist to discuss the complaint.
The Peer Review committee is NOT a disciplinary body. If you feel your complaint merits disciplinary action, you may call the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners to file a formal complaint against the dentist at (410) 402-8500.
